Welcome to the CulINARY GARDEN
Jon started it in 2014 with just a few raised beds. its turned out to be a wonderful garden with lots of different veggies etc. and also as of 2017 an herb bed too. be sure to check it out when you visit.
This is Jon Kramer a friend of Jon's tilling up the ground for the Culinary garden. He came to help one day and Jon did the rest of it which is hard work I tell you. But its all worth it to see it now. This was in late 2014.
This is an overall view of the Culinary garden as view from the walkway leading into the garden. So when your entering the garden if you look to the West you will see where the Culinary garden is. As I said up above we just started this late in 2014 so we have a long way to go yet to get it like we want it or like Jon wants it I should say. He does most the work there and Jeff Martin does as well as he built the fence and put it all in. It was a lot of work too I must say. He did a great job building the fence and digging all those beds. Thanks for looking !
This is just one section of the Culinary garden on the left are a mixture of Tomatoes, Cherry ones and the larger ones as well. On the right you will see Asparagus and below it are strawberry plants and Zinnia's too. In the background on the right the red you see is a Castor bean plant with red spikey things on it. Ha ! I am not sure what to call them as they are not a fruit or a flower. Maybe more so a flower I would think. We need rain desperately so I am hoping that happens soon. I have been doing nothing but watering of late due to the lack of rain. Taken on 8-5-2016
This is our Beer and Wine and Gourd house so to speak. We have a couple Grape vines on it as well as several Hops vines which is used in Beer but of course we won't be doing that. We also have several types of gourds and one section with Luffa gourds too. So its pretty full and as you can see doing very well. Jon mentioned making another one of these as it works pretty well and looks awesome ! This was taken on 8-5-2016.
Another shot of the Tomatoes we have in the Culinary garden. When they start ripening we should have plenty of tomatoes that is for sure. This is the enclosure I believe Jon might add a top to like the other one. Taken on 8-5-2016.
This is the West end of the Culinary garden the red that stands out is the Castor bean plant. And you see the gourd enclosure etc. I think it will only get better with time the garden that is. 8-5-16
This is a view of one of the many gourds we have growing on this enclosure. Soon it will be full of them all over it. Last year we had them here and they looked really neat. Taken on 8-5-2016
This is a close up of the Hops its a vine then these hang down here and there. Its a first for it in the garden. Taken on August 5th, 2016.
This is almost like the other photo up above but I didn't get the Teepee in it so this one shows it so I thought I would add it. You can behind it also see the Sunflowers. They are about done blooming now unfortunately. This is the West end of the garden. Taken on August 5th, of 2016
This is a close up of the Hyacinth bean vine in the Culinary garden and its just done fantastic this year and spread like crazy. Jon and I are both amazed each time we see it. I will try to get a overall shot of it so you can see what I mean about how wonderful its done and looks. This was taken on October 18th, of 2016. A very warm and beautiful sunny day in the garden !
